Zouk The North
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We are excited to have you at ZTN in 2023! Here are some of the questions we’re hearing a lot:

What’s your health policy?

We are hoping to not have any requirements or restrictions for 2023 (other than please stay home if you’re not feeling well), but this is subject to change as the next year unfolds. The short and sweet: don’t come if you may have COVID-19, and for any other minor illness where you have tested negative for COVID-19 but may still be contagious, wear a mask during your participation (at a minimum). This will help keep our community safe and healthy. The full health policy is available here.

When and where is the event?

Our event is September 7 to 11 2023 at the Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport.

Our schedule is:

  • Thursday 7th – Sunday 10th: Pre-Party, Workshops, Competitions, Dancing at main venue

How do I travel to Canada?

Check out our handy travel guide!

The Government of Canada has steps on their website. As of November 14, 2022 the following are required:

  • Travellers must be fully vaccinated, with proof of vaccination, to avoid 14 day quarantine

You should verify entry requirements yourself. DO NOT rely on Zouk the North for entry requirements.

You can fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The hotel has a free shuttle (call to arrange) between 5am and 11pm for those staying at the hotel.

Please ensure you check the requirements for your specific travel thoroughly. As a reminder, all international travellers must have a valid passport, including those travelling from the USA. Most people who are not American or Canadian citizens require either a Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter. Make sure that you apply for an ETA through the Government of Canada’s website, not a third party. It is significantly cheaper (around $7).

Where should I stay?

We strongly recommend staying at the event hotel: Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport. There are other hotels nearby – but we recommend booking early to make sure you secure a room. If you have a room and are planning to release it after the booking deadline, please let us know so that we can arrange a transfer into someone else’s name. We expect the hotel to sell out, and want as many people as possible to be able to stay there.

What is there to eat?

We’ll update this soon.

When do tickets open?

November 15, 2022 at 9 am Pacific Time.

Are there promo codes?

ZTN does not use promo codes for individual full passes. No group rates will be available for earlybird prices.

I’m new to Brazilian Zouk! Can I get a ticket?

We have a limited number of Newcomer passes that go on sale in January 2023. These tickets are only for people who:

  • Have never been to a major event before;
  • Have been dancing Brazilian Zouk less than a year total; and,
  • Are still learning the basics.

If you are unsure if these conditions apply to you, please contact us. You can find more information about the program on this page.

Are your workshops level controlled?

No, we do not level control ZTN workshops, with the exception that Newcomer passes may only take Zouk Trailblazer programs (beginner level). However, we will publish a list of prerequisites before the event. We ask that attendees level themselves according to what they are capable of. We will have those prerequisites up before the event, so that you can prepare for a workshop you really want where you don’t already meet the prerequisites.

How do I transfer my pass to someone else or roll over my pass?

You can transfer your pass by emailing their name and email to events@dzouk.com once you have completed the transaction. Remember that you cannot sell a pass for more than you paid. Passes transferred within one month of the event start date (from August 7) are subject to a $30 CAD transfer fee. Ticket transfers initiated after September 4th will not be accepted.

How can I check the status of my pass?

Log into Danceplace.com with the email you used to register. It should appear under My Tickets. If you do not see something there, please email or message us and we can look up your ticket.

How do I see the schedule?

On Danceplace.com, you can search for Zouk the North, and select this year’s event. When a detailed schedule is created, it will be posted there. In addition, you’ll be able to make a customized agenda for you to plan out your whole weekend experience.
